I love it Rhonda! Well said. Nothing like experience and a love for nursing to encourage new nurses. I describe it as learning to dance with a stranger: watching carefully, taking cues, taking the lead at times but sometimes being lead, relaxing and enjoying the ‘getting to know’ bit, happy steps when rejoicing with new Mums and Dads and swaying to one’s own music to shush the newborn, holding on tightly when we need to but also being sensitive and knowing when to let go, especially as we accompany our patients to the end of life; rejoicing in the privilege of having the last dance – and dancing well amidst the tears.
